AI can certainly be used as an excuse to reduce team sizes, when it can increase productivity, at a lower cost (labour costs are often much higher than the capital required to operate or use AI platforms). Some examples of jobs that could be replaced in such a way include:
Interpreters and Translators
Historians
Passenger Attendants
Sales Representatives of Services
Writers and Authors
Customer Service Representatives
Telephone Operators
News Analysts, Reporters, Journalists
On the contrary, there are a number of jobs where AI is not really applicable, and hence could be ranked the lowest in terms of risk of being replaced. Such examples include:
Pile Driver Operators
Water Treatment Plant and System Op.
Maids and Housekeeping Cleaners
Massage Therapists
Whether Microsoft's research is right or wrong remains to be seen in the future years, but being prepared for seismic changes is certainly necessary.
